Galena Hops, with alpha acids between 10 and 14% are bittering hops. Their ancestry is of Brewer’s Gold and they have medium intensity, pleasant English hoppiness with a mildly fruity, blackberry/citrusy flavour and aroma. It is higher in myrcene oil content than most hops and high in beta acids, giving it the versatility of aroma hopping as well, lending woody or grassy elements. Galena is a great bittering hop that works well with other varieties and is recommended for American or English style ales.
