Nugget hops are a cross between Brewer’s Gold and a high alpha acid male. Although primarily used as a bittering hop with alpha acids ranging from 10% to 15%, Nugget is considered a dual use or ‘all -purpose’ hop. The aroma can be described as floral, herbal, resiny and ‘heavy’. They are high in myrcene oils, which lend a woody character. Nugget was bred partly for it’s storage capacity, holding 70 to 80% of it’s alpha acid content after 6 months at 20C
Consider Nugget for a clean, neutral bittering hop, which is happy to take a back seat to malt flavours.
